Thermal Transfer Printer Ribbons (TTR)
Label Makers stock and supply an extensive range of thermal transfer ribbons in most of the commonly used thermal ribbon sizes, suitable for standard and near-edge printers. We supply thermal transfer ribbons compatible with all brands of printers including including Zebra, Datamax, Intermec, Sato, QLS and Toshiba TEC .
Our thermal printer ribbon grades include;
- Resin (for outdoor and durability)
- Wax/Resin (for general use)
- Wax (economy).
- Wide range of sizes available, as well as cores to suit all applications
- We also supply specialty ribbons for certain applications such as high scuff resistance, and chemical resistance, ideal for use in GHS chemical labelling applications.
- Coloured ribbons are also available on special request, subject to volume.

Flat Head or Near Edge Thermal Ribbons?
Most thermal printers work on two very similar principles of image processing. In a nutshell heat is transferred through the film via a ceramic bar which is charged with heat at the appropriate time to form the image. The heat is used to momentarily soften the ink on the film, and allow it to transfer to the substrate that is being printed on.
There are two distinctly different style of print heads used to process the image in the is way, called near Edge, and Flat head. The key difference is the position of the ceramic cells that transfer the image and the angle at which it sits on the substrate. Generally speaking Near Edge technology is more commonly found in Industrial type printers such as Toshiba’s SX range, but is also found in some Markem printers, Avery Dennison, Videojet and Bell Mark.
Zebra and Sato printers, which are probably amongst the most commonly used printers in Australia, use flat head technology. We supply ribbons to suit all technologies and all print heads. Zebra Compatible Printer Ribbons
Label Makers supply a full range of thermal ribbons compatible with the Zebra standard and industrial printers. Our Zebra compatible printer ribbons come in a wide range of colours and we have a number of options to suit your budget, ranging from the genuine Ricoh ribbons as recommended by many manufacturers, to cheaper alternatives which can also produce fantastic results at a much more economical price. Our Zebra compatible ribbons also come in Wax, Wax/Resin and full Resin variants and include a wide range of printable spot colours.
Toshiba TEC Compatible Thermal Ribbons
Label Makers supply a full range of thermal ribbons compatible with the Toshiba TEC Printers.. Our Toshiba TEC compatible printer ribbons come in a wide range of colours and also come in Wax, Wax/Resin and full Resin variants. The toshiba Tec range consists of mostly near edge printers, but some are flathead so please be sure to quote your printer model number when ordering your ribbons.
QLS Compatible Printer Ribbons
Label Makers supply a full range of thermal ribbons compatible with the QLS Astro-med printers. Our QLS compatible printer ribbons come in a wide range of colours including the full CMYK set for halftone printing. Our QLS compatible ribbons also come in Wax, Wax/Resin and full Resin variants and include a wide range of printable spot colours.
Coloured Thermal Ribbons
Label Makers can also supply a wide range of coloured TTR ribbons for various applications. Our coloured ribbons can be supplied to suit almost all printers, and come in a very wide range of colours.
